Class 5 Driver Training For Adults and Young Drivers
Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) and University College of the North (UCN) have partnered to increase access to driver training programming in northern Manitoba. The UCN Class 5 Driver Training Program will help create safer roads and improve workforce development in this critical area of the province by bringing affordable and accessible training into communities across the region.
Norway House 16-Hour Knowledge Test Preparation Course
- Open to anyone 16 years old or above.
- Duration: 16 hours. Classes are 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting May 13, 2025.
- Location: Room 113, UCN Norway House

- Requirements: Must have valid ID and proof of address

Norway House In Car Driving Lessons
Lessons are led by a locally based, MPI-permitted instructor who understands the unique driving environment in our region. With flexible scheduling and continuous intake, you can book lessons at a time that works for you.

Driving Made Simple
Program Highlights:
- 16 hours of in-class knowledge test preparation.
- 4 hours of practical in-car lessons to prepare for road tests.
- Fleet vehicles are included for student use from the start of their lessons until they complete their road test.
- Flexible, supportive training designed to fit your needs.
Fleet Vehicle Use for Driving Lessons and Road Tests:
Fleet vehicles are included for student use after completing the following lessons:
- 4-hour in-car driving lessons
- 1-hour refresher
- 5-hour MPI Mandatory Training
Road Test Support:
On the day of your road test, an instructor will accompany you and provide the UCN training vehicle for your test.
Note: Fleet vehicles are not used during the 16-hour in-class program as students have not yet achieved their knowledge permit.
Eligibility Requirements
Adults (18+):
- Must hold a valid Learner’s Driver’s License or be eligible for the MPI Knowledge Test.
Under-18 (16–17 years old):
- Must live in a community where high school driver training is not available.
- Must hold a valid Learner’s Driver’s License or be eligible for the MPI Knowledge Test.
