ACCESS Program

Program Overview
University College of the North's ACCESS Program was developed to assist under-represented groups to access and maximize the possibilities of success in post-secondary education. The ACCESS Program was designed to take into account the diverse learning needs and varied social and economic circumstances of students by providing additional academic, social, personal, and financial support.

Criteria
The ACCESS Program is open to all students who have been approved to receive Manitoba Student Aid for the 2017/2018 academic year and who are enrolled full-time in any university or college program at the University College of the North at The Pas or Thompson Campus starting in September 2017.

Applicants are required to complete a UCN ACCESS Program application and provide a copy of their current university or college program of study transcript(s), 2017/2018 Manitoba Student Aid Notice of Assistance and proof of Aboriginal status (if applicable). Applicants are also required to provide a copy of all high school and/or mature high school transcripts, previous university and/or college transcripts, and training transcripts.

All applications will be screened by a committee and only those who meet the criteria will be selected for an interview. Students will then be notified by the Financial Awards Officer if they have been successfully chosen in their area of study. Deadline for application is September 12, 2017.

Note: Preference is given to individuals of Aboriginal ancestry (Status, Non-Status, Metis, Inuit) and priority is given to residents of Northern Manitoba, single parents, low-income earners, and those who face social and/or personal barriers to participate and/or succeed at the post-secondary level.
